We all get older, and there are lots of older people in our church community and in the village of Nettleham.
Our curate, Revd Judy Shaw, helps to coordinate a range of activities aimed at the enjoyment, the spiritual life and the wider service of the elderly. Lots of activities are run by a variety of people, and we hope to see these grow. We are so excited about having our Parish Centre as a warm, comfortable and welcoming place all the year round.
Joyce Lewis has been running Cuppatime for many years. 3.00 every Sunday except in January and February, it is a time when anyone, especially older people, can come along, currently to the church, and share a cup of tea or coffee, excellent biscuits and usually delicious akes, and have a really good natter. All are welcome - just pitch up for half an hour.
Coffee at the Centre
Our new Parish Centre is the home for a regular coffee morning for older people. Watch this space for the dates. Our new building is very easy to get in and out of and is right in the middle of the village. It is a time for making new friends and meeting old ones. It is a time to ask us if there is anything we can do to help you.
Coach trips and outings
We organise regular coach trips to a variety of attractions. Recently we visited Holmfirth. We will soon have a page specially about these trips. Check the News for now or contact Shirley at the Parish Office.
We organise a great social programme, much of which is particularly targeted at our older church members and community. These activities combine the purposes of having fun together, and rising money for the church. Look out for parish meals, concerts, beetle drives and such like.
